Research Proposal Presentation
What you need to do:
1. Get a partner (ONE group of 3 students is allowed, first come, first served)
2. Decide on a research topic can be anything related to psychology, should NOT be our class project topic
3. Do some digging around on PsycInfo to see what has already been done on your topic and decide on a specific research question
4. Create a PowerPoint presentation that includes the following information
a. Background information prior research (2-3 sources)
b. Proposed study research question; research need (how research is new/different); hypothesis
c. Method who participants will be; design to be used; how study will be carried out; materials you will use
d. Proposed data analysis t-test? ANOVA? Repeated measures ANOVA? Factorial ANOVA? Chi-square? Correlation? Regression? Multiple regression? (Think about whether your study manipulates an IV, number of groups, whether scores are related or independent, what type of DV you have)
You will have approximately 10 minutes for your presentation. (I would recommend ~10 or fewer slides for this time frame.)
I expect BOTH partners to participate in the presentation. That includes researching it, creating the PowerPoint, and presenting it to the class.
There will be opportunity for the class and professor to ask questions at the end of each presentation. I expect students to ask (good) questions.
Tips:
Pick a topic you are interested in. This will make the project more interesting for you.
Dont include too much information on the slides. Include key points and fill in the rest of the information verbally.
Do not just read off of the slides. Try to avoid just reading off your notes. The better understanding you have of your proposed project, the easier this will be to achieve.
Relax. This is supposed to be fun, not scary.
