I feel like this period could be described as a confusing time. The American people don’t know what to think regarding NAFTA and the president campaigns. Bill Clinton was against NAFTA, but then changed his mind when he was elected into office. I feel like no one really knew what the best thing to do for the country was at the time. It seemed as though they were just winging it until they could get another plan to try out and see if it worked. According to the video, “Since NAFTA came into effect, about 400,000 American jobs have been “adversely affected” by trade with Canada and Mexico, according to the U.S. government.” I feel like this is a good quote to show that no one really knew how NAFTA would affect the American people, but they took the risk and hoped for less harm and more gain. They ended up with 900,000 export jobs, and I feel like it was great for globalization, but it was hard for the American people who lost their job. I feel like globalization isn’t Americanization, because it takes away the success of the United States and puts it into other countries. Globalization is great for America, but I think how fast the change happpened for it, it hurts the US more than it helps. If it would’ve been a gradual change instead of all at once, I don’t think it would have been as hard on the American people to adapt to and change with. I feel like nations can create a plan to move toward globalization gradually. When you have a plan and don’t rush it, I think it would work great for nations. Globalization offers a lot of opportunity for nations, but it can’t be something taken lightly. I think without a strategic plan and following through with the action it can be beneficial for the nations and the people to globalize. . you will have to watch the First hour of this video and to write a main post about it Entry post-aim for minimum of 10 sentences
