(topic and argument)We chose the movie Fences produced and directed by Denzel Washington as our topic to discuss in the final video project. The story of a common African American family in the movie happened in 1950s Pittsburgh, which racial segregation has not been abolished virtually. Black people still suffered a lot from racism and segregation system. However, the most significant point of the film did not focus on discussing or revealing racism straightforward. Instead, it attached importance to the real life and conflict of Troy Maxons family. By depicting kinds of details in their daily conversation and life, the relationship of Troys family members, the way he saw death and made choices and how Troy evaluated himself and his responsibility, audience could understand the huge influence and unfair treatment happened to African American peoples mental and physical life. Our argument is that the racial segregation would lead a terrible and persistent negative effect on African Americans family by creating fences around them to restrict their thoughts and depriving their rights.
