{"id":5382,"date":"2020-11-13T13:50:46","date_gmt":"2020-11-13T13:50:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onlineclassesguru.com\/?p=5382"},"modified":"2020-11-13T13:50:46","modified_gmt":"2020-11-13T13:50:46","slug":"social-effects-of-policing-on-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onlineclassesguru.com\/index.php\/2020\/11\/13\/social-effects-of-policing-on-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Effects of Policing on Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><p>Social Effects of Policing on Campus<\/p>\n<p>Boaz, G., Connolly, D., Johnston, D., &amp; Poitras T.,<\/p>\n<p>Department of Criminal Justice, Radford University, Virginia 24142<\/p>\n<p>Introduction<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Methods<\/p>\n<p>Results<\/p>\n<p>Discussion<\/p>\n<p>Printing Supported by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship<\/p>\n<p>We created a survey of 13 questions through Qualtrics that was then distributed through different social media platforms, that asks participants if campus police generate fear and stress amongst students.<\/p>\n<p>Our sample consisted of 122 participants that are Radford University students<\/p>\n<p>The results showed that the majority of our sample, in regards to Class Standing, Gender, and Ethnicity were as follows; 57.4% were seniors, 51.4% were Female, and 59.8% were White\/Caucasian<\/p>\n<p>In our study we will research how police presence on<\/p>\n<p>College campus make students feel.<\/p>\n<p>.(Hypothesis)<\/p>\n<p>Purpose of this research is to<\/p>\n<p>Past studies have found that both race and gender<\/p>\n<p>participants in the study can predict how they perceived<\/p>\n<p>use of force. The study also states exposure to media<\/p>\n<p>coverage and highly publicized incidents of police<\/p>\n<p>misconduct have also been found to negatively impact<\/p>\n<p>Perceptions of police especially among Blacks and<\/p>\n<p>Hispanics.<\/p>\n<p>We believe that the police and students would benefit from programs that integrate them on campus to reduce the systematic fear and stress that the students experience.<\/p>\n<p>This program would allow students to shadow campus police, giving students the transparency and insight into the duties and responsibilities of campus police; In the hope that this insight will decrease the levels of stress and fear amongst students.<\/p>\n<p>Girgenti-Malone, A.
