Then you are each individually expected to identify and research the particulars of the person\u0092s life and the event or elements that make this southerner \u0093infamous\u0094 and relevant for this paper (and coming group project presentation). In the paper, you will need to CRAFT AN ARGUMENT of your own based on the research conducted on your topic. See below for potential ideas about types of arguments you could craft depending on the way your research unfolds.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 You must consult at least five academic sources (begin with Galileo or Questia), but you must have at least eight credible sources total.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 You must attend at least two writing center appointments (preferably three).<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 The candidate may be the focus of a mysterious legend, a horrific crime, a series of crimes\/killings, or a controversy. All topics must be approved by Dr. A before moving forward with research.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of potential topics you might craft based on research:<\/p>\n<p>1. Are criminals born or created? Bad choices? Free will? Circumstantial victims? Debate about nurture versus nature and whether criminals learn their behavior and emotions or whether they are simply born that way.<\/p>\n<p>2. Consider if criminals ever pass the point of no return and whether there is any point in their lives at which they could change their behavior with professional assistance or if, once they passed that point, they have no ability to turn back and are condemned to that lifestyle forever.<\/p>\n<p>3. Another topic you might consider is arguing that certain parenting styles are conducive to sociopathic tendencies and the breeding of a serial killer<\/p>\n<p>4. You can research the different social standings which influence serial killers and how\/why<\/p>\n<p>5. You can explore the different mental disorders which influence serial killers and how\/why<\/p>\n<p>6. You can explore which childhood upbringings influence serial killers and how\/why<\/p>\n<p>7. You can explore how the families of victims can seek reparation emotionally for their losses<\/p>\n<p>8. You can review the forensics necessary to track and convict criminals and whether the ethics involved in this is worth the potential logistical problems.<\/p>\n<p>^^^ These are just examples. There are TONS of other arguments you can explore that can be more or less complicated than these.<\/p>\n<p>The paper will be submitted in the following phases:<\/p>\n<p>1) Annotated Bibliography- 50 points<\/p>\n<p>2) Writing Plan- 30 points<\/p>\n<p>3) Draft 1\u009750 points<\/p>\n<p>4) Draft 2\u009770 points<\/p>\n<p>Remember, in evaluating your final essay, I will be looking for the following criteria:<\/p>\n<p>1. an introduction that includes a hook and an arguable thesis which responds to the assigned topic;<\/p>\n<p>2. body paragraphs that each have an arguable topic sentence and that are well-developed with SUFFICIENT evidence;<\/p>\n<p>3. At LEAST three-five sources in your final draft should be from peer-reviewed journals with proper MLA documentation; you should have at LEAST eight sources total (see the \u0093Evaluating Sources\u0094 sheet under WA2)<\/p>\n<p>4. a conclusion that \u201cwraps up\u201d the subject being discussed<\/p>\n<p>5.
