{"id":4373,"date":"2020-11-11T14:38:45","date_gmt":"2020-11-11T14:38:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onlineclassesguru.com\/?p=4373"},"modified":"2020-11-11T14:38:45","modified_gmt":"2020-11-11T14:38:45","slug":"mental-illness-stigma-reduction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onlineclassesguru.com\/index.php\/2020\/11\/11\/mental-illness-stigma-reduction\/","title":{"rendered":"mental illness stigma reduction"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><p>Design a final project that accomplishes one of the following:<br \/>\n(a) a mental illness stigma reduction campaign OR<br \/>\n(b) a new mental health policy OR<br \/>\n(c) a proposal for an innovative program that addresses the needs of people<br \/>\nwith mental illnesses\/disorders and\/or emotional suffering in our<br \/>\ncommunity<\/p>\n<p>Each person is responsible for researching their topic, designing a new intervention<br \/>\nor policy memo or proposed legislation, written as an 8 page final paper.<\/p>\n<p>In thinking through the elements of your proposal, consider the following<br \/>\npossibilities and questions (where relevant):<br \/>\n\u00ef\u0082\u00b7 Consider a society where we dont have medications to treat disorders<br \/>\nbut have to respond to the problem via an alternative cultural and social<br \/>\nresponse to disorders. What would this response look like?<br \/>\n\u00ef\u0082\u00b7 In what way is stress related to the mental health problems of people<br \/>\nwith stigmatized identities (e.g., gender, race, ethnicity, SES, sexual<br \/>\norientation and:<br \/>\na. Gender<br \/>\nb. Race<br \/>\nc. SES<br \/>\nd. Sexual orientation<br \/>\nWhat would a truly interdisciplinary program, intervention, or policy look like\u0080\u0094one<br \/>\nthat was based on the methods and observations of several disciplines and practice<br \/>\ntraditions (e.g. Psychiatry, Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, History,<br \/>\nComplementary and Alternative Medicines, etc)?<\/p>\n<p>Format: The research paper should be 8 pages (not including works cited).<br \/>\nPlease follow the following format: 12-point Times New Roman or Arial, double-<br \/>\nspaced, one-inch margins.<\/p>\n<p>Your research paper requires 5 academic, recent (within last 5 years)<br \/>\nsources.<\/p>\n<p>-Keep in mind this is NOT a book report, your own supported analysis is needed in<br \/>\nyour arguments. Your sources should be used to support YOUR thesis and<br \/>\narguments!<br \/>\n-It is safe to assume, when writing this paper, that your audience has a basic<br \/>\nunderstanding of the health topic that you are researching. However, you should<br \/>\nspend the majority of your time using the feminist strategies used in the course to<br \/>\nconvey your arguments with great depth and detail.<br \/>\n-Remember that sources are not simply supposed to provide you with data, they<br \/>\nshould be used to support your argument on a variety of levels. This means that<br \/>\nyour sources should be carefully combed and evaluated for main arguments and<br \/>\nweaknesses, and this should be discussed in the paper. It is NOT enough to simply<br \/>\npull a statistic from a paper and plug it into your argument without understanding<br \/>\nthe larger context.<br \/>\n-No footnotes\/endnotes will be allowed in this paper.
