These guidelines have been developed in response to problems encountered in the health care setting. They are designed to improve quality of care and patient safety and to reduce \u201cNever Events,\u201d (listed below).<\/p>\n<p>For this Application, select a practice-related problem and review the guidelines that have been developed to address the problem. You may select a problem in your current work setting or one from the National Guideline ClearinghouseTM. Below is a list of topics; however, you may select another problem that is of interest to you.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Pain management (SD)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7<\/p>\n<p>o Acute<\/p>\n<p>o Chronic<\/p>\n<p>Pressure ulcers<\/p>\n<p>Wrong side surgery<\/p>\n<p>Fall risk assessment<\/p>\n<p>Restraint use<\/p>\n<p>Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)<\/p>\n<p>Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus Infections (MRSA)<\/p>\n<p>Blood incompatibility<\/p>\n<p>Air embolism<\/p>\n<p>Object left during surgery<\/p>\n<p>Vascular catheter-associated infection<\/p>\n<p>Surgical site infection<\/p>\n<p>Write a 3- to 4-page paper in which you:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Identify a practice setting problem<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Describe the importance of the clinical problem and why it is significant to nursing practice<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Describe the extent to which it affects a patient or community population<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 State the costs of this problem to the health care system<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Describe why it is important to have a solution to this problem that is based on evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Support your ideas or those of others with references from the professional nursing literature.
