Presentations submitted after Wednesday 11:59<\/h4>\n<p>Clinical Practice Guideline Assignment<br \/>\nGuidelines with Scoring Rubric<br \/>\nPurpose<br \/>\nClinical guidelines provide recommendations on the diagnosis<br \/>\nand management of certain conditions.<br \/>\nRecommendations are based on evidence from a rigorous systematic review<br \/>\nand synthesis of the drafted medical literature. Interpreting and learning to<br \/>\napply guidelines into practice is necessary to develop and enhance diagnostic<br \/>\nreasoning skills.<br \/>\nActivity Learning Outcomes<br \/>\nThrough this assignment, the student will demonstrate the<br \/>\nability to:<br \/>\n1) Locate a<br \/>\ncurrent, primary care clinical practice guideline for a specific condition. (CO<br \/>\n3)<br \/>\n2) Read and<br \/>\ninterpret the guidelines for use in practice. (CO 3)<br \/>\n3) Evaluate<br \/>\nthe recommendations and apply to patients in the clinical setting as<br \/>\nappropriate. (CO 3)<br \/>\nDue Date:<br \/>\nStudents will RANDOMLY be assigned a topic by your<br \/>\ninstructor in Week 1. Students will post<br \/>\na brief PowerPoint summary presentation by Wednesday 11:59 p.m. MT of Week<br \/>\n7. This will allow others to view their<br \/>\npeers presentations in order to provide peer evaluations before Sunday. Presentations submitted after Wednesday 11:59<br \/>\np.m. MT of Week 7 will receive an automatic 0.<br \/>\nTotal Points Possible:<br \/>\n150<br \/>\nREQUIREMENTS:<br \/>\n1. Students<br \/>\nwill be randomly assigned a disease topic from the instructor in Week 1.<br \/>\n2. Each<br \/>\nstudent will locate and examine a current CPG for the assigned topic.<br \/>\n3. A copy<br \/>\n(or reference) of the intended CPG should be submitted to the instructor by<br \/>\nWeek 3 for approval.<br \/>\n4. In Week<br \/>\n7, students will summarize the CPG and give a brief, oral presentation<br \/>\naccording to the directions and rubric listed below.<br \/>\n5. In addition<br \/>\nto the presentation, a written transcript (for the instructor) must be<br \/>\nsubmitted to the Week 7 assignment box.<br \/>\n6. Students<br \/>\nwill share a copy of the CPG along with a link to their presentation.<br \/>\n7. Presentations<br \/>\nand transcripts are due before Wednesday 11:59 p.m. MT of Week 7, Presentations<br \/>\nand\/or papers submitted after the deadline will receive an automatic 0.<br \/>\nPREPARING THE PAPER<br \/>\nThe<br \/>\npresentation should be developed using the guidelines listed below. All presentations must be in PowerPoint<br \/>\nformat.<br \/>\nThe<br \/>\nPowerPoint file should be uploaded to Voice Thread in order to add the narrated<br \/>\nportion.<br \/>\nThe<br \/>\npresentation should be drafted or shared with the class for viewing by<br \/>\nposting a link in the discussion forum along with a copy of the CPG before Wednesday<br \/>\n11:59 p.m. MT of Week 7.<br \/>\nThe<br \/>\nwritten transcript should also be submitted to the drop-box for the<br \/>\ninstructors reference before Wednesday 11:59 p.m. MT of Week 7.<br \/>\nCorrect<br \/>\ngrammar, punctuation, and spelling should be observed in the slides and script.<br \/>\nCategory Points % Description<br \/>\nDisease &amp; Background 15 10% Identify<br \/>\nthe disease condition and give a brief statement of incidence and prevalence in<br \/>\nthe U.S. Discuss the pathophysiology of<br \/>\nthe disease and typical clinical presentation seen in patients with the<br \/>\ncondition.<br \/>\nPublication &amp; Applicability in Primary Care 30 20% Identify the author, organization or<br \/>\ngroup that developed the CPG. State the year of the original guideline<br \/>\npublication as well as any subsequent revisions (your reference should be the<br \/>\nmost recent version).
