Establish the goal, problem, challenge, or obstacle in the task.<\/p>\n<p>ROLE Define the role of the students in the task. State the job of the students for the task.<\/p>\n<p>AUDIENCE<\/p>\n<p>Identify the target audience within the context of the scenario. Example audiences might include a client or committee.<\/p>\n<p>SITUATION<\/p>\n<p>Set the context of the scenario. Explain the situation.<\/p>\n<p>PRODUCT<\/p>\n<p>Clarify what the students will create and why they will create it.<\/p>\n<p>STANDARDS and CRITERIA [INDICATORS]<\/p>\n<p>Provide students with a clear picture of success. Resist the urge to fill in all of the blanks!The most effective summative assessments are those that allow students to apply what they have learned in authentic situations.
