Specifically, it makes the claim that the ability for an individual to form an emotional and physical \u201cattachment\u201d to another person gives a sense of stability and security necessary to take risks, branch out, and grow and develop as a personality. How can this distract a student from being focused on his\/her studies while at college? To some people, their immediate family may not be close, cohesive, or even supportive of their life choices, sexual orientation, religious preference, etc\u0085<\/p>\n<p>As a result, many people develop relationships with people who eventually become a version of an extended family. Support is everything to someone whose never truly experienced it. It is the equivalent of them quintessential metaphorical umbilical cord which feds support, care, concern, understanding, and validation. However, when dealing with a person who expresses a fearful attachment style, the person becomes so in fear that they may lose that relationship an in return see themselves as worthless.<\/p>\n<p>They have the best of intentions for relationships but tend to avoid intimate relationships just so they can avoid being hurt. Trust becomes relative rather than something absolute. Is it possible that having an unhealthy attachment can grossly contribute to the college dropout rate and retention rate? Can a positive attachment styles empower someone to believe in themselves and be lead to accomplish something that not even they thought they could accomplish? Dismissive attachment style: The individuals with dismissive attachment style tend to consider themselves precious. Their attitudes towards others are generally negative.<\/p>\n<p>They abstain from close relationships, are extremely attached to their freedom and believe that close relationships are not important at all (S\u00fcmer and G\u00fcng\u00f6r, 1999). Some people are so in fear of being disappointed, lead astray, or of being hurt, that they would rather stay away from everyone all together. They\u0092d rather be free from worry, stress, or disappointment. So instead of developing and nurturing close knit relationships that could lead to lasting friendships, these individuals place absolutely no value in their relationships with others and their thoughts are more negative than they are positive.Literature Concept Map Using Goggle, Microsoft Office, or another electronic tool, create a map of the concepts that will likely appear in your literature review.<\/p>\n<p>You must create a map using the theory.
