(Please stay with physiological processes instead of psychological disorders; i.e.; do not select bipolar disorder, manic depression, schizophrenia, etc.) Look at the end of each chapter in your book for ideas.<br \/>\nAssignment:<\/p>\n<p>After you have selected a \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0disease or disorder, research the causes and effects of the disease \/ \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0disorder using as many of the following resources as possible:<\/p>\n<p>textbooks<br \/>\nmedical journals<br \/>\ninternet (peer reviewed \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Web sites),<br \/>\nmedical dictionaries<br \/>\ninterview a nurse or \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0physician that treats the disorder\/disease<br \/>\ninterview a patient that \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0exhibits the disorder or disease (*must have subjects permission to \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0include their information in your project and a signed consent form), and<br \/>\nany other credible \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0resources<\/p>\n<p>Produce a project to \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0present the information in one of the following formats:<\/p>\n<p>PowerPoint or Prezi Presentation with Recorded Voice Over<br \/>\nBrochure using Microsoft \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Word<br \/>\nWebsite (Google Sites)<br \/>\nInfographics (Piktochart or Canva)<br \/>\nA research paper<br \/>\nOther project of your \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0choosing (Please email me your idea)<\/p>\n<p>Information to Include in Your Project<br \/>\nAddress the following questions in your project. Be as detailed as possible.<br \/>\nIntroduce the name of the disease\/disorder or process of imbalance. Does it have any common names in addition to its scientific name? (For example: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS is commonly known as Lou Gehrigs Disease\u009d\u00a6.and Trisomy 21 is commonly called Downs Syndrome\u009d<br \/>\nIs the disorder\/disease genetically linked? Which chromosome(s) carry the gene(s) for this?<br \/>\nWhat organ or organ system does the disorder\/disease primarily impact in humans? How might it affect the whole body if it is progressive?<br \/>\nWhat are the chief symptoms of this disorder\/disease? (What are they key signs a physician looks for in diagnosing a patient with it?)<br \/>\nHow do these signs\/symptoms affect the patient in terms of accomplishing activities of daily living? (Does it impact the ability to walk, talk, eat, bathe, brush teeth, work, etc.)<br \/>\nWhat are some therapeutic measures to counter the problems or at least lessen the severity of the problems with this disease\/disorder? (medications, rehabilitative therapies, surgeries, etc.)<br \/>\nWhat is the incidence of occurrence for this disease\/disorder?
