Issues and ethics in the helping professions (10th ed.)<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 10: Issues in Theory and Practice<\/p>\n<p>Please be sure to have ACA 2014 Code of Ethics<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Read the following scenario and\u00a0respond to the questions that follow, in a 3\u00a0page (does not include title page and reference page) double spaced,\u00a0APA Style document (no abstract required).<br \/>\n<em>Sandra is an LPC practicing in your state in a community agency setting. \u00a0She recently attended a professional training (half day) that focused on the use of projective drawings as a therapuetic tool in working\u00a0with children in disrupted home environments (ie: \u00a0family\u00a0separation, divorce, domestic violence, death).<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Sandra has a new child client, a 6 year old girl, who was referred to her by the GAL (Guardian ad litem) representing the child in a contested custody case. \u00a0The little girl has had her first appointment with Sandra and she was unable to share much about her situation with Sandra.<\/em><em>At her second appointment\u00a0the little girl complies with Sandra\u2019s \u201cspur of the moment\u201d request to draw a picture, as directed by the House-Tree-Person Test. \u00a0This\u00a0is the projective test that Sandra learned about in her recent training. \u00a0Upon looking carefully at the drawing following the child\u2019s session, Sandra becomes concerned based on some elements of the drawing, that the child is being abused in some manner when she is at her mother\u2019s home. \u00a0Sandra contacts the child\u2019s attorney and an informal investigation is started. \u00a0The child is temporarily removed from her mother\u2019s home\u00a0\u00a0and placed with her father full time in order to protect the child until the investigation is completed.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Two weeks later the allegation of abuse was found to be unsubstantiated and the child was returned to her mother\u2019s home to resume her prior time sharing schedule. \u00a0Six weeks later the child\u2019s mother filed a formal complaint against Sandra citing harm that was done to her, her daughter, and to their relationship as a result of the \u201cbogus\u201d accusation made by Sandra, the child\u2019s counselor. \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\nFocusing on the use of the projective test by Sandra, what \u201cevidence\u201d can you find in the ACA 2014 Code of Ethics and in your readings, in defense of the counselor? \u00a0Next, what evidence can you find that could be incriminating for the counselor? \u00a0Be sure to be very specific and cite particular sections of the Code of Ethics or passages from your readings to illustrate your points either \u201cfor\u201d or \u201cagainst\u201d the counselor. \u00a0 An in-depth and thoughtful discussion, that clearly demonstrates your understanding of some of the complexities of this situation will earn the most points.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>2. On a separate page by itself answer the following questions:<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to use the ACA 2014 Code of Ethics (posted on Resources Page and also in the textbook (chapters above)) Section E on Evaluation, Assessment, and Interpretation to help you with your responses. This part of the assignment need to be at least 250 words.<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Discuss the difference between testing and assessment.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0 \u00a0What does testing and assessment have to do with counselor competence?<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0 \u00a0What\u00a0does Evidence-based Best Practices have to do with testing and assessment in counseling?<\/p>\n<p>On a separate page answer the following question, 250 words minimum using the above chapters in the textbook: \u00a0Of what importance are the theories of counseling to your chosen counseling career?
