{"id":14663,"date":"2020-11-24T09:09:59","date_gmt":"2020-11-24T09:09:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onlineclassesguru.com\/index.php\/2020\/11\/24\/family-therapy-sessions-journal\/"},"modified":"2020-11-24T09:09:59","modified_gmt":"2020-11-24T09:09:59","slug":"family-therapy-sessions-journal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onlineclassesguru.com\/index.php\/2020\/11\/24\/family-therapy-sessions-journal\/","title":{"rendered":"Family Therapy Sessions Journal"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><h1>Week 2:<\/h1>\n<h1>Assignment 2: Practicum \u2013 Week 2 Journal Entry<\/h1>\n<h2>Learning Objectives<\/h2>\n<h6>STUDENTS WILL:<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply documentation skills to examine family therapy sessions *<\/li>\n<li>Develop diagnoses for clients receiving family psychotherapy *<\/li>\n<li>Analyze legal and ethical implications of counseling clients with psychiatric disorders *<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><i><strong>*<\/strong>\u00a0The Assignment related to this Learning Objective is introduced this week and submitted in Week 3.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Select two clients you observed or counseled this week during a family therapy session.\u00a0<strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0The two clients you select must have attended the same family session.<\/p>\n<p>Then, address in your Practicum Journal the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using the Group Therapy Progress Note in this week\u2019s Learning Resources, document the family session.<\/li>\n<li>Describe (without violating HIPAA regulations) each client, and identify any pertinent history or medical information, including prescribed medications.<\/li>\n<li>Using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), explain and justify your diagnosis for each client.<\/li>\n<li>Explain any legal and\/or ethical implications related to counseling each client.<\/li>\n<li>Support your approach with evidence-based literature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1>Family Assessment and Phases of Family Therapy<\/h1>\n<blockquote><p>A family\u2019s patterns of behavior influences [sic] the individual and therefore may need to be a part of the treatment plan. In marriage and family therapy, the unit of treatment isn\u2019t just the person \u2013 even if only a single person is interviewed \u2013 it is the set of relationships in which the person is imbedded.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, \u201cAbout Marriage and Family Therapists\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When issues arise within a family unit, the family often presents with one member identified as the \u201cproblem.\u201d However, you will frequently find that the issue is not necessarily the \u201cproblem client,\u201d but rather dysfunctional family patterns and relationships. To better understand such patterns and relationships and develop a family treatment plan, it is essential that the practitioner appropriately assess all family members. This requires you to have a strong foundation in family assessment and therapy.<\/p>\n<p>This week, as you explore family assessment and therapy, you assess client families presenting for psychotherapy.
