Then, you should find three different pieces of evidence that you might use in your essay as support material. Need 300 words.<\/p>\n<p>Complete the Writer\u2019s Notebook in 4 steps as explained below:<\/p>\n<p>1. Create a \u201cquotation sandwich\u201d out of one of the pieces of evidence.<\/p>\n<p>2. Paraphrase a different piece of evidence. Include both the original and your paraphrase for comparison.<\/p>\n<p>3. Summarize another piece of evidence. Again, include the original and your summary.<\/p>\n<p>4. Include an in-text citation for each! In order to prove or advance these claims, you may need to use evidence from sources. Evidence are those things outside of our own mind (facts, figures, reports, books, etc.) that support the reasons we present to make our claim. Integrating information from sources helps you to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strengthen your own argument \/ claim \/ position,<\/li>\n<li>Identify others\u2019 ideas, and<\/li>\n<li>Establish your ethos \/ credibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When selecting information to use as evidence, it is important to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Utilize the latest, most significant and credible sources that engage with the topic at hand.<\/li>\n<li>Use sources to show your readers where you fit in with other writers in the larger conversation about your topic.<\/li>\n<li>Use sources that show your readers you are up to date and knowledgeable about your topic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Ways to Integrate Sources<\/h3>\n<p>It is important to know how to effectively integrate sources into your own writing. Generally speaking, there are three ways to integrate sources into your writing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dlc.dcccd.edu\/images\/englishcomp1rlc\/IntegrateSources.png\" alt=\"IntegrateSources\" width=\"600\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Whenever you integrate sourced information it is important to frame it, which means, you should introduce the information in your own words, insert the sourced information, and follow it with your own interpretation or analysis. A common approach is regularly referred to as the \u201csandwich approach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dlc.dcccd.edu\/images\/englishcomp1rlc\/sandwich.png\" alt=\"sandwich\" width=\"451\" height=\"262\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Making Connections<\/h3>\n<p>Be sure that your reader understands why you have integrated the sourced information.\u00a0 To help the reader follow your logic, you should make connections.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Point the reader back to the thesis<\/li>\n<li>Point the reader back to the paragraph\u2019s main point<\/li>\n<li>Point the reader back to your purpose<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Revising and Editing Your Text<\/h3>\n<p>When you are revising\/editing your paper, answer the following questions to ensure that you have effectively integrated your sourced information.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Did you use a direct quote?\u00a0 If so, did you place it within quotation marks?<\/li>\n<li>Did you place your parenthetical\/in-text citation immediately after your sourced information?<\/li>\n<li>Does your citation include all of the required elements?<\/li>\n<li>Does the ending punctuation follow the parenthetical\/in-text citation?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Citing Integrated Sources<\/h3>\n<p>Whenever you integrate sources, you must document the source. Doing so helps to establish credibility and avoid plagiarism.<\/p>\n<p>Generally, parenthetical\/in-text citations require the following components:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Author\u2019s last name and<\/li>\n<li>page number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong>\u00a0(Green 210)<\/p>\n<p>Just as with most things, there are exceptions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Signal Phrase<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 A signal phrase is an introductory clause that introduces information from sources.\u00a0 It alerts the reader that you are shifting from your own point of view to someone else\u2019s.
