{"id":12930,"date":"2020-11-24T09:04:57","date_gmt":"2020-11-24T09:04:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onlineclassesguru.com\/index.php\/2020\/11\/24\/concert\/"},"modified":"2020-11-24T09:04:57","modified_gmt":"2020-11-24T09:04:57","slug":"concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onlineclassesguru.com\/index.php\/2020\/11\/24\/concert\/","title":{"rendered":"Concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><p>MUS 110CL<br \/>\nConcert Critique<br \/>\nGuidelines and Rubric<br \/>\nAfter either attending a live concert or watching a full length concert online, write a critique of the<br \/>\nperformance following the format below.<br \/>\nHere are a few examples of full length concerts you can find online (by conducting a web search using<br \/>\nthe criteria below) that could be used for this assignment:<br \/>\nColdplay Live In Boston 2012 (Full Concert DVD)<br \/>\nSting: If on a winters night-Live from Durham Cathedral 2009 (watch all 14 songs on concert)<br \/>\nEric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Ron Wood, Bill Wyman, Jan Hammer, Charlie<br \/>\nDuke Ellington The Great Paris Concert<br \/>\nRichard Galliano\/Winton Marsalis \u2013 Billie Holiday meets Edith PIAF<br \/>\nWynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Jazz Center Orchestra @ The BBC Proms 2004<br \/>\nJohnny Cash &amp; Willie Nelson, Amazing stuff!<br \/>\nLoretta Lynn \u2014 You\u2019re Looking At Country \u2013 Legends In Concert<br \/>\nYou may choose a different concert\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/homeworkhandlers.com\/video\/\">video<\/a>\u00a0to watch, but be sure you include the URL of the concert you<br \/>\nchose in your critique, or scan the program of the live concert you attended and attach it. The musical<br \/>\nstyle of the concert should include at least one of the genres studied in this course.<br \/>\nThe Concert Critique should be 2.5\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/homeworkhandlers.com\/pages\/\">pages<\/a>\u00a0long, double spaced. It should contain five paragraphs that<br \/>\ndescribe the following aspects of the concert you attended:<br \/>\n1. Who are the performers? Give the title of the concert and write something about the performers.<br \/>\nIs it an orchestra? A choir? An ensemble? Solo artists? Why did you choose to attend this<br \/>\nparticular performance? Tell as much as you know about the musicians that performed are they<br \/>\nprofessionals? Students? Teachers? How long have they been performing? Etc.<br \/>\n2. Describe the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/homeworkhandlers.com\/music\/\">music<\/a>\u00a0that was performed on the concert. Use the musical characteristics that we<br \/>\nhave been learning in class. What genre is the music (opera aria? Jazz song? Standard tune?<br \/>\nSolo instrument piece? Symphony?)<br \/>\n3. What style period was the music written in? What was the tempo, dynamics, texture, etc.?<br \/>\nSometimes the music in a concert will be only one genre. Sometimes there will be several genres<br \/>\nperformed. Attach the program to your critique, and then refer to the titles in the program. For<br \/>\nexample: Autumn Leaves was performed by a small instrumental ensemble (guitar, bass, and<br \/>\npercussion). It is a standard contemporary tune. The tempo was a moderately slow ballad. It had<br \/>\na very mellow sound<br \/>\n4. Tell how well you think the performers interpreted the music that was on the concert. Were the<br \/>\nsingers in tune? Did the piano player play musically and rhythmically? Do you think the<br \/>\nperformers communicated the music as it was meant to be communicated by the composer?<br \/>\n5. Tell which pieces or part of the concert was most moving or enjoyable for you. If you didnt enjoy<br \/>\nthe concert very much, tell why you didnt enjoy it. What could have been better? Be as specific<br \/>\nas you can when expressing your opinion of the performance dont just write generalities like It<br \/>\nwas nice or it made me feel like dancing. Tell why the music made you feel like dancing. Write<br \/>\nabout why you particularly enjoyed that part of the concert.<br \/>\n6.
