Why do you think that the United States has been slower than other high income capitalist countries to develop family leave policies? What have you heard people say about this? Why do you think the United States’ policy does not include paid family leave as is the case in almost all other advanced industrial societies? Do you think the United States should have “universal” childcare for all children, regardless of parents’ income, as they do in Europe? Why or why not?
