Discrimination and harassment affect a workplace in different ways. Such harmful practices at the workplace affect the reputation of business and/or company. There is always a price workplace to be paid. For example, because of discrimination and harassment workers lost their working environment and organization face lose. Researches have shown that 2 million American workers left their workplace because of discrimination and unfair treatment. The estimated cost of discrimination and harassment is $64. Based on sexual orientation most of the workers that face discrimination are transgender and gay communities. A recent survey states that 42% of gays haved faced discrimination and harassment at workplace. Unfair treatment urge workers to replace their department and change in departments which can cause costs up to $10,000 for an hour, and $100, 000 a year. This financial loss affects the gross income of companies and organizations. Discrimination at workplace not only costly in terms of labor supply but also in terms of consumer demands. When a company chooses to promote discrimination and harassment at workplace, it results in losing workers that affect production and supply. Thus companies do not afford to lose shares by losing supply of company and they hire workers on highly paid basis. The above chart shows the percentage of financial loss of different workplace groups who practice discrimination at workplace, estimated by the World Bank. Workplace discrimination cause costly lawsuits upon companies. According to a report of 2010, 10 ranking employment discrimination lawsuits costs companies more than $346 million. Companies having discrimination and harassment policies are save from these financial losses. Different companies took measures to save discrimination and harassment at workplace to prevent financial losses and this is the best solution to maintain shares and image of the company at local and global level.
