Position Paper or Thesis Statement: “Fleur,” by Louise Erdrich, or “The Pugilist At Rest,” by Thom Jones

Final Exam: The position paper, or thesis, for the final exam will be written on either “Fleur,” by Louise Erdrich, or “The Pugilist At Rest,” by Thom Jones.
1. The syllabus contains a description of the type of essay you will write for the final exam.
2. You must state a thesis that is a workable thesis, a critical position that could be argued.
3. The final exam essay must be written on lined loose-leaf paper and must include a cover page. Do not use paper torn from a spiral notebook.
Instructions:
In the form of an extended essay (a thesis paper, or position paper), write a literary analysis of the text in light of its cultural context. Do not merely summarize the text. The essay will be written in- class during final week.
You may bring the primary text itself to class but you may not bring notes or resource materials, except for the page numbers of the quotcs/citatio
