Assignment
The topic of this paper must be the same topic on which you completed your Annotated Bibliography. The reason we completed that assignment first is so that the majority of your research is already done, as are your MLA Works Cited citations.
You will need to add in-text citations, which we will review in class. Also, you will conduct some sort of field research on your topic and write about that experience in your paper. More information on that can be found on the Field Research Assignment Sheet. (Also in the Argumentative Research folder on Blackboard.
Signature Self Reflection
A key difference between this essay and the ones to come is that this essay will coincide with a signature assignment. One of the two signature assignments well do in this course is a one-page Self Reflection, where you will answer several questions about the pros and cons of your research process and consider what you might do better next time.
Ill reserve some class time for you to get started on this reflection. It will be worth 50 points toward your final grade and appears in the syllabus as Signature Self Reflection. Im mentioning it here because the self-reflection must be included in the same document as your research essay, on its own page, after your essay.
You will submit this essay to Turnitin as usual. You will also submit it through a regular Blackboard link. The reason for this is that other members of the San Jacinto College faculty will be reading your essays & self-reflections. They dont have access to our Turnitin page, and so theyll be reading on Blackboard.
Ill be reminding you of all these requirements as we get closer. There is also a Research Paper Checklist in the research folder.

· 3 pages miniumum in MLA format
· 3 scholarly/credible sources & 1 field research source
· In-text citations & works cited page
· Self-reflection sheet following the essay and works cited page.
