Business owners hire consulting firms to get a business idea or check the feasibility of their ideas. The methods suggested below are often used by consulting firms to provide appropriate feedback to their clients;
Primary research:
a. Personal interview: Conduct an interview (similar types of shops) owner(s), manager(s), or employee(s)
b. Survey: Distribute a questionnaire with 15-25 survey questions to a minimum of 50 people.
Secondary research: Search useful information on-line or in trade journals regarding spa business – how popular, what types of patrons, where shops are located, and so forth. For the secondary data, the source of information must be indicated in the report.
Background research can help you to develop a more objective and concrete concept. During the course of research, your group should consider the following questions:
a. What were your initial assumptions about the service concept you created?
b. How did you validate your service concept idea?
c. What changes did you make in your service design as a result of the background research?
