Admission/Application Essay, Nursing
leaders and managers
Project description
It is easy to be confused about leaders and managers. The readings this week discuss leaders and managers, and clearly
there are some differences in the two and some similarities. How would you describe the differences in a nurse leader and
a nurse manager What examples of a nurse leader and a nurse manager have you observed in clinical settings Have you
observed a nurse manager who was also a leader A nurse leader who had no formal management position Compare and contrast
your examples.
You might consider factors related to communication, decision making, empowerment of staff, critical thinking,
collaboration, tasks and responsibilities, supervision, qualities and characteristics that lead to success, role of staff
in the relationship, and other related factors. Can a nurse manager be a nurse leader Does a nurse leader have to be in a
formal management position Perhaps a nurse manager may not be a nurse leader
